I imagine that what would happen when you approach your farm then, an instance dome would pop up around the area or the option to end the instance while there is either a generic or the old farm left on the real overworld map. ![]() And the derelict remains of the buildings give the player the opportunity to build the farm into any building style they want, giving further options to add to the farm down the road. The access to the beach could mean adding a small ferry along with a very likely trailer. There are a lot of empty sheds that could be converted to holding crafting benches so you don’t have to go to Farah’s or future crafting vendors’ tables. The farm’s orchards could be converted to grow the fruit foods (oranges, apple, bananas) currently in the game. That utility feature I think is a big one. I also suggest this one because it has a lot of the features players want if they could have their own farm: open pastures for our horses to be in, access to a barn and a house, small paddock for custom jumping course, and a lot of land for utility upgrades. This unlocks player housing, which would be a great addition to current end game, which is why I suggest the Epona farm. So the player gets the deed and/or a short quest to go get the deed and is given the Dews’ first farm in Epona. They’re starting over here in the Forgotten Fields, but maybe the player can build something new there. Now, what about me saying we get the second one? Well, after getting Admired with the Dews’, Maya’s mom (since she’s presented as the leader of the family) says that if the player ever goes to Epona, that they should look for their old farm. In any case, the first Dew Farm has been restored. It’s a moment for Alex too to begin growing something new, since I imagine she’s still struggling after Elizabeth’s death and this gives her the ability to think towards the future (It might also be an opportunity to bind Elizabeth to a primeval tree so we could still talk to her, but that’s an extension of the side quest). The whole thing ends with Alex and Maya planting a new primeval tree to slowly regrow the forest that used to be here and also as a cute moment between the girlfriends, slightly symbolic considering the Whispering Willow’s lose and Catherine & Thomas’s wedding in these fields. The end result is a second functioning farm on Jorvik like Starshine Ranch that we have access to, though most likely with a bigger focus on crosscountry than western, considering the area. I think this is important considering how important Maya is to Alex, and yet we don’t really know a lot about Maya. In the mean time, we get to meet the Dews. ![]() This could involve collecting rubble to craft new roofing, herding in the animals that get lost in the Forgotten Fields, and maybe some kind of Soul Riding inspired minigame to magically restore the field’s fertility in secret. In any case, using some kind of system like the one to repair the Rescue Ranch, the player helps restore parts of the Dew Farm. Maybe even all the Soul Riders will show up to make this a real end game side quest. The player at Alex and Maya’s request agrees to help renovate the Dew’s Farm in the Forgotten Fields post rescuing Lisa (there’s a reason for this). Two, as far as adding side quests go, a lot of assets are already there to the early levels of restoring a Dew Farm, making it an easy side quest to tide over. It would be even cuter, since Maya and Alex are adults, to share a space together and this would give us a location for Alex’s room like we currently have to Lisa and Linda. Now, as much as I love a good ruin, I think having these farms updated serves two fold: one, it allows us to meet Maya and Alex, something we haven’t had in a solo quest yet. Due to the infertility of the land, they sunk further into poverty and eventually only Maya was willing to show her face. They then moved to the farm in the Forgotten Fields. ![]() So, the story of the Dews goes that they originally lived in Eastern Epona, but were forced out because of G.E.D. In any case, I want to suggest that we as the PC eventually get one of those farms. ![]() Ok, I want to write a theory about the Dews so folks will finally leave the “Cow Theory” alone, or at least have a better Dew related theory to talk about.
